NATURE CAPTURES
Photography. Illustration. Nature Curation.
When I go outdoors walking, gardening or head-clearing, I always take my phone. The camera on my phone is such a great tool for capturing moments out in nature.
Whether it’s taking photographs of stunning natural light, a seasonal flower, a beautiful garden, or a close up of a particularly fascinating fungi, my phone is the perfect tool for the job. Plus, it’s small so it always fits in a pocket alongside the dog lead, foraging containers and secateurs!
I use my photography to illustrate my words, create a seasonal moment, depict my workshops and to showcase winning gardens. It’s part of drawing attention to the beauty out there – of nature noticing.
Often, I collect small nature finds (responsibly of course!) and I have a seasonal nature table in my studio and by my front door. I like to curate and photograph these natural treasures to depict the seasons in flat lays and remind myself that there’s always something interesting to spot outdoors.
When I’m really inspired, I come home and illustrate my finds in my nature journal. It’s a great nature noticing tool. I enjoy using natural materials like twigs and feathers to draw and including pressed flowers and leaves.
